Research

Currently, only 3-5% of adult cancer patients participate in clinical trials. At this rate, new advances in cancer care will take even longer to be realized. Clinical research is the only way to obtain important data that moves new drugs and therapies toward FDA approval and more expanded use here in the USA. Physicians, along with the gold standard of care, may offer their patients the option to participate in a clinical trial if available for their situation. Ultimately, it is up to the patient to decide and the numbers are clear that most choose the gold standard. This may be attributed to many different factors one of which may be a lack of understanding or fear of the unknown. CRN has found that not only patients with disease but healthy community members as well need to be educated about research. It is apparent that clinical research in general carries many myths which need to be dispelled if we are ever to make the next great discovery in cancer treatment and perhaps one day, a cure.  By spreading knowledge about clinical research CRN hopes to provide the community with a clear picture of this important element of scientific advancement.

CRN maintains the position necessary to gain access to scientifically sound and cutting-edge cancer clinical trials. Such a position allows us to offer collaborating community oncology practices the best studies that fit their patient population so that each patient may have a clinical trial opportunity available for their disease type.

Physicians…

Our network physicians know that clinical trial access within their own practice helps fulfill their commitment to offering their patients the best. Qualified physicians contract with CRN on a non-exclusive, study by study basis always maintaining their ability to decide which studies their practice will participate in. Made available to each practice is CRN’s experience and capability to manage every aspect of a clinical trial including: expedited contract and budget negotiation, regulatory management through Central IRB's allowing for expedited study start-up, dedicated study coordination and data management. Study support is tailored to the needs of each practice ensuring that physicians and their staff are not sacrificing valuable time needed for patient care. CRN adheres to GCP (Good Clinical Practice) guidelines, FDA, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations; ensuring that each participating site does the same. Network participants benefit from increased visibility with pharmaceutical sponsors and through outreach and advocacy initiatives, the community at large.
